Paulding County Airport Authority
Paulding County Airport Authority (PCAA) convenes this week with some new board members to start the year and to elect a new chairman.
Additionally the board’s agenda includes discussion on an airspace waiver for aerobatic training, and approval of a list of individuals authorized to sign financial obligations.
And the board will to consider a motion to approve a special use permit for the event “Spring Fling Celebrate ‘n’ Play” and will consider a motion to approve a special use permit to Advanced Rider Training Course.
PCAA’s board will also consider a motion to approve funding for an Economic Impact Study in the amount of $9,000.00 payable to InterVistas Consulting, Inc.
CORPORATE HANGAR
PCAA have some new business regarding the corporate hangar this week, as well. The board will consider a motion to approve a $100,000 zero interest note payable to Prime Contractors, Inc. to be paid back at a minimum of $1,000 per month until fully paid.
According to notes contained in the meeting agenda “...the note would resolve all outstanding invoices and liability relative to the construction of the corporate hangar.”
And the notes further indicate that, “...the PCAA and Prime Contractors, Inc. remain on good business terms and Prime Contractors, Inc. will be afforded every opportunity to conduct business with the PCAA on future projects.”
Additionally PCAA this week were expected to consider a motion to authorize Acting Director Terry Tibbitts to start exploratory planning and preliminary design for installing concrete floor in the corporate Hangar’s ground floor office space and another motion to authorize Tibbitts to start exploratory planning and preliminary design for an additional row of T-hangars.
Tibbitts has been guiding operations at Silver Comet Field since June. Prior to that Tibbitts served as the airport’s liaison to the Federal Aviation Administration, which regulates and in 2007 provided much of the funding to build Silver Comet Field. The airport makes revenue from aircraft owners along with tenants McNeel Builders Inc. and Silver Comet Maintenance, which helps to keep operations out of the red, Tibbitts said.
Focus has shifted for Paulding’s Silver Comet Field to become more competitive as an aviation airport, since other metro airports McCollum and DeKalb-Peachtree are at their capacity.
