Cobb EMC Linemen Win Statewide Competition
Linemen bring home 16 awards from Georgia Lineman’s Rodeo

Cobb EMC linemen took top honors, bringing home 16 awards and competing against more than 200 utility linemen from across the state at the 23rd Annual Georgia Lineman’s Rodeo, which was held at Camp John Hope in Fort Valley, Georgia. The day-long competition is designed to improve safety training, which is critical in an industry where safe work practices can mean the difference between life and death.
Utilities compete in one of two divisions: electric membership cooperatives (EMCs) and municipal power companies. During events, linemen competed individually as apprentices or as journeymen teams, which are comprised of three linemen and a coach.
