2017 River Of Life

The 19 th Annual Paulding County “River of Life” mission was held June 21 st - 25 th and was once again a huge success! 8 churches throughout Georgia and Alabama sent teams to participate in this amazing event. 106 youth and over 80 adults spent three days traveling to worksites throughout Paulding County to assist disadvantaged homeowners in completing work on their homes. An additional 50 volunteers worked to prepare and serve meals, facilitate worship, shuttle students to showers, run supplies and tools to worksites, and several other activities bringing together this fantastic mission project. At night, the teams had dinner followed by an amazing time of worship.
This year 15 teams worked at 18 sites repairing and building wheelchair ramps, staining decks and fences, painting homes, repairing roofs, and performing yard work. Teams also had the opportunity to get to know their clients and hear their stories. Relationships were formed that far outweighed the actual work being done.
Many lives were changed this week by the “River Of Life” ministry. Thank you to all the local businesses and volunteers who made this year’s event a great success story!
“River of Life” is sponsored each year by Dallas First United Methodist Church. Through this ministry, youth and adult participants are given an opportunity for spiritual growth and Christian fellowship while assisting the elderly, handicapped, and economically disadvantaged citizens of Paulding County with home repairs that they cannot otherwise complete themselves.
