judge RepTreyKelleyAtlanta (April 8, 2024) – Recently, during a presentation held at the Georgia State Capitol, the Council of Probate Court Judges of Georgia honored State Representative Trey Kelley. Representative Kelley was one of six recipients of the 2024 Legislative Recognition Award. For the first time since its inception, the Council awarded the honor to six recipients: Representative Kelley, State Representative Todd Jones, State Senator Max Burns, State Representative Gerald Greene, State Representative John LaHood, and Mr. Todd Edwards of ACCG.
Gilmer Probate Judge Scott Chastain, the Council’s current vice president, and Kevin D. Holder, the Council’s executive director, presented the award to Representative Kelley on the Council’s behalf. “Representative Kelley has truly been a friend to the probate judges across Georgia,” said Judge Chastain. “As evidence of this, during this year’s legislative session, Representative Kelley was the House sponsor of Senate Bill 212, which eliminated elections jurisdiction from probate courts. Without Representative Kelley, this bill would not have achieved final passage. We thank him for his tireless efforts in passing SB 212 and for his service to the citizens of Georgia.”
The Legislative Recognition Award is an honor awarded on an annual basis, as selected by the leadership of the Council of Probate Court Judges of Georgia. Last year’s recipient of the award was State Senator John F. Kennedy, the president pro tempore of the Georgia Senate.
