Paulding County UGA Extension Master Gardener Volunteers recently recognized Bob Banks and Carolyn Burce as Paulding County Master Gardeners of the Year as well as the New Georgia Library as the Friend of Master Gardeners.
Chosen by their fellow Paulding County Master Gardener Extension Volunteers, Bob Banks and Carolyn Bruce were awarded the coveted title of Master Gardener of the Year for 2017. Bob volunteered in many Extension activities in 201 including co-coaching a 4-H Forestry Judging Team, assisting with the annual plant sale, and assisting with School Garden Advising. Carolyn served as 2nd Vice President of the association in 2017, organizing the program schedule for outreach, conducted outreach through landscape design in our community, assisted with the annual plant sale, and organized many Master Gardener activities.
The awards were presented by previous MG of the Year Award Winners, Robert Cheatham, and Donna Phillips.
New Georgia Library received the Friend of Master Gardener award at the Master Gardener Awards Program, as well. The Friend of Master Gardener recognition is awarded to Community Partners in Paulding County who collaborate with Master Gardeners to conduct successful programming.
In attendance to receive the award were Library Manager, Kendra Winters, Children’s Specialist, Bonnie Gormley, and Library Services Director, Cherry Waddell. New Georgia Library hosted a summer series for children, called MG Sprouts helping Master Gardeners to instill an interest and passion for gardening in our younger Paulding County library patrons. Paulding County Master Gardener Extension Volunteers and Paulding County UGA Extension are grateful for these vibrant volunteers and community partners and their continued service in the community!
