The Hiram Hornets and Paulding County Patriots played twice this past week with each team winning at home. The Hornets hosted the Patriots on Wednesday and won 7-1 and then the Patriots returned the favor on Friday besting the Hornets 9-3.

A gathering in Dallas was held last Saturday to remember the worst aviation disaster in the state’s history, which occurred in the New Hope area in 1977. Local clergy addressed the gathering during a special service at New Hope Baptist Church.

On Thursday March 30, 2017 a retirement reception was held in honor of Deputy Bill Payne. Deputy Payne began his career in law enforcement with the Fulton County Police Department in 1982.

Shelton Elementary were alerted by a staff member that one of their teachers possibly had alcohol on her breath. During a search, they discovered that the teacher had a loaded semi-automatic pistol in her purse. The teacher at Shelton Elementary and was charged with Possession of a Weapon on School Property.

Honestly, the EPA cannot continue using hidden science while making big decisions that affect people’s livelihoods and communities. By keeping scientific data secret, the EPA prevents the public from reviewing, testing and replicating the information that governs them.

The General Assembly completed Day 38 at 7:30 pm on Friday, March 24th and will reconvene on Tuesday, March 28th for Day 39. The legislature was in session on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of this week with everyone making final efforts to move legislation.

The past week was a good one for the Lady Patriot soccer team as they won a crucial region match against Carrollton to remain undeafeated in region play. The match against Carrollton was a tough one with the Patriots coming out on top 3-1.
