Ten weeks down, two to go until we adjourn the 2017 Legislative session! We had a busy week of committee hearings and policy debate as both the House and Senate passed bills. Initiatives such as healthcare and public safety remain top priorities as we make our way through the final days of session.

9 years ago, at 26 years old, I was diagnosed with cancer. I was 32 weeks pregnant with my first child. I had discovered a knot in my neck before I was even pregnant. I thought it was a swollen lymph node and didn’t think much else of it. After I became pregnant, this knot began to change.
Paulding County’s Drug Court Program recently held its third meeting of the program’s executive committee, a steering committee made up of community leaders and concerned citizens that meets about twice a year.
The Georgia General Assembly today gave final passage to House Bill 146, sponsored by State Representative Micah Gravley (R-Douglasville). HB 146 would require fire departments to provide adequate insurance coverage for firefighters who have been diagnosed with cancer and will now go to Governor Deal for consideration.
Paulding County 4-H had 34 Junior and Senior level 4-H’ers compete at the Northwest District Project Achievement (DPA) at Rock Eagle 4-H Center in Eatonton, Georgia on March 10-12, 2017.
Saturday March 18, 2017 the Paulding County Republican Party held its annual County Convention. Chairman Craig McDowell called the meeting to order at 10 a.m. At this meeting the delegates and alternates were approved to represent the party at the upcoming District and State conventions.
Paulding Chamber of Commerce hosted a panel discussion on crime trends at the March Chamber Luncheon. The 3-member panel included Paulding DA Dick Donovan, Sheriff Gary Gulledge and Linda Verscharen, director Family Alliance of Paulding.
