Paulding Judicial Circuit Drug Court Program celebrated its tenth graduation. The graduation was semi-virtual, with a limited number of people personally in attendance due to Covid-related restrictions. There were seven graduates, which brings the total number of graduates to fifty-four since the program was started in January 2016.
Chattahoochee Technical College honored its graduates with a drive-through graduation ceremony held Thursday, May 13, at the college’s North Metro Campus.
Paulding County Fire & Rescue announces the promotion of two long-time Department employees to the office of Captain, and six more to Lieutenant within the Fire Operations Division. Newly named officers will assume their new leadership roles effective on May 15, 2021. They include: Captains Rob Boatman & Brandon Maple, and Lieutenants Josh Collier, Michael Cooper, Bruce Jones, Jerre Ledbetter, Will Riner, and Mark Waits. Combined, these officers have more than 150 years of Fire Suppression/EMS experience.
Brianne Johnson, an 8th Grade Social Studies teacher at P.B. Rich Middle School, has been named the Paulding County School District’s 2021-2022 Teacher of the Year.
Thursday, May 5th, Paulding County received a 911 call for a possible motor vehicle accident off a bridge into Sweetwater Creek, near 1823 Friendship Church Road. The caller told 911 Operators they had been searching for a family member, who was reported missing around 3:30 am.

Detective Stephen Quimby officially retired from the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, an official retirement celebration was unable to be held, but the Deputies and civilian staff at the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office were able to send him away with good wishes from afar.
Autism awareness is extremely important for all first responders, especially law enforcement officers. Several years ago, the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (P.O.S.T.) implemented the Governor’s Initiative Training program. The Governor’s Initiative Training program was implemented to include specific mandatory training for every law enforcement officer in Georgia. Some of the training includes de-escalation, autism awareness, the use of force, community policing, cultural awareness, and several other courses.
Multiple contractors will be present and ready to hire both experienced and inexperienced plumbers for commercial and industrial piping projects in the Metro Atlanta and Athens area. No experience is required. The pay range is $15-$35 per hour plus health insurance including dental and vision.
