Janet Rooks wins West Georgia Regional Library adult summer reading prize.
Janet Rooks has won the adult summer reading prize from the West Georgia Regional Library. Rooks participated in summer reading at the Crossroads Public Library. She won the drawing for the regional adult prize: a night out on the town gift set worth $300.
Participants in the adult summer reading program could get their names entered into the drawing by reading books, turning in reviews, and attending library programs throughout the summer.
“We’re so happy that summer reading continues to expand throughout West Georgia,” said West Georgia Regional Library Director Roni Tewksbury. “Over the years, more and more children, teens, and adults are participating in this great way to learn and engage with our local communities.”
Summer reading is a perennially popular activity at the library. Across the West Georgia system, over 9,000 people of all ages participated in summer reading activities this year, and the libraries put on over 500 programs and events for the people of the community.
“All the great things that the library offers don’t end at the end of summer,” said Tewksbury. “There are all sorts of services and events, from reading to foreign language learning to e-books and e-magazines and more that are all available for free from your local library. If you haven’t been in recently, you should definitely stop by your local branch to hear about all the new services we offer.”
