County Commission Post 2 Candidates Name Their Top Priority

Candidates for the May 22 Republican Primary Election include three Paulding races for post commissioner seats. Concluding this week with Post 2, each candidate was asked to name their top priority once elected or re-elected.

randypullenFor Post 2 candidate Randy Pullen,
“I was looking at the things that were concerning me. I’d like to have a safer school system with all the stuff that’s been going on nationwide -- and we had three threats here; I’d like to see something done there so we can protect our teachers and our kids. And the issue with the airport has really disturbed me because our county is suing itself, and that issue was resolved with resolution “15-01” and those lawsuits didn’t have to take place.
I’ve helped people all my life and that’s all I want to do here; I did it for 30 years as general chairman for the union. And I’m not just looking at Post 2. I think if we don’t look at the whole county then all of us are wrong, it doesn’t matter what post you’re in.”

sandyFor Post 2 candidate small business advocate and insurance agent, Sandy Kaecher,
“Our reputation has been tainted over the past several years as being insular and non-inclusive. When I speak with aspiring business owners and they tell me how much of a struggle it is to open a business in Paulding, it motivated me to want to be a part of the solution.”
Kaecher also points to the current and forthcoming growth that the county is experiencing and notes the opportunities that lie within.
“I want to work with commercial developers on a solid, thought-out plan for sewer. We need site ready locations for light industry and businesses. We need plats with a ready building, but can't move forward without the infrastructure.”

toddPost 2 Incumbent Todd Pownall of Dallas is seeking his third term,
“I have quite a few priorities, but above all is my desire to maintain an ethical government for the residents of Paulding County. I have strived to keep the residents informed of county business since I first took office in 2011. Now, along with my fellow Post Commissioners, we have brought transparency and integrity back to the Board of Commissioners, which I pray is never lost.
I recognize the County’s need for sewer. I’m proud that the current board has begun working on the necessary issues to begin the process of making it available. Keeping Paulding County’s airport a general aviation airport is another priority. I’ll remain committed to preserving the reasons people choose to live here.”
