Dallas, Paulding County, Department of Driver Services (DDS) Open for Business!

Thanks to a joint effort between Paulding County and the State of Georgia, Paulding County residents, and those nearby, have a brand new hi-tech facility for their driver’s license business. The center opened Tuesday, June 21 and served about 300 customers on the first day! Local and State officials gathered to officially cut the ribbon on July 13, 2016. Paulding County Chairman David Austin singled out State Rep. Howard Maxwell and former legislator Charlie Watts who helped ensure the new center was funded.
It is approximately 10,000 square feet with 20 service counters and free parking. It provides all licensing services except road tests which are by appointment only and will be added in the near future. It is a hi-tech center with computers available for customers to fill out the mandatory paperwork and kiosks to distribute the service numbers.
On opening day, June 21, we served 298 customers with less than one minute wait. Over 3,175 customers have been served to date. The average wait time to date is about three minutes (three min. and 10 sec.)
Customers are urged to visit the DDS website at www.dds.ga.gov to check the required documents before visiting. Those with a gold star on the upper right hand corner of their license can renew with only that license presented. Those without a gold star must bring proof of identity, social security number and residency to renew and receive a gold star.

dds 600Additionally, if customers use the DDS Skip a Step! feature at www.dds.ga.gov to complete the necessary form before arriving, it will make their visit faster! It is automatically transmitted to DDS, so there is no need for customers to print it out.
DDS Commissioner Bert Brantley said about the new center: “This is a great example of two governments coming together for the betterment of the community. This would not be possible without the help and support from Paulding County. This is a deluxe center that our driver examiners and customers will enjoy for many years to come.”
