Shannon 600The city of Dallas, Georgia has officially named Shannon Gordon the Main Street Manager. The Main Street Manager position is one of the several recent positions that has been added to the Business Development office to better serve the community and business owners. The city of Dallas started the process of becoming a designated Main Street in 2020 in hopes to become a designated affiliate program next year.
Shannon says, “Having grown up in Dallas, participating in the Christmas parade, and walking the streets during car shows, I know how special this community is. It is my goal to show others how amazing and charming our downtown is help make it a destination for our community where people come to shop, eat and spend time together.”
When asking what Shannon loves most about working in downtowns, she says she loves working with the small business owners. Since working in different municipalities and growing a network of downtown professionals throughout the state, Shannon has seen a variety of shop-small programs and is ready to bring some of those ideas to downtown Dallas to encourage the community to shop local. Her most notable contributions were Market Days in Carrollton and the Community Farmers Market in Villa Rica, both of which brought the entire community together to support local businesses and vendors.
Shannon is excited to help implement the LCI (Livable Centers Initiative) plan to the areas located in the Main Street District. She says the office of Business Development has a lot of ideas planned for the town green and amphitheater when they come to fruition.
Shannon grew up in North Paulding and is a graduate of Kennesaw State University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations, a minor in engagement marketing, and a certificate in Music and Entertainment business. She began her career in downtown development in 2018 in Carrollton as the Main Street Coordinator, then moved to the city of Villa Rica’s Main Street Department. Working for previous municipalities and growing a network of downtown professionals has equipped her with invaluable experience, therefore, she feels she has a lot to offer the city of Dallas.
The Georgia Main Street Program began in 1980 and is an initiative created to help build strong and vibrant downtowns.
