womans600After a year of exhaustive fundraising and 103 years of being on the very corner of the entrance to downtown Dallas, the Dallas Woman's Clubhouse and former library is being restored! The Mayor and City Council formally proclaimed December 2nd, 2024 as Dallas Woman's Club Day. The very next day the Dallas Woman's Club had the official groundbreaking.
Pennant Construction has been retained to be the contractor that will be restoring the historic Woman's Clubhouse, originally built in 1921. The only modifications to this iconic building will be disability access so that our senior members can continue to be a vibrant part of our club.
The Dallas Woman's Club is one of the 10 founding members of Paulding Meadows, the clubhouse was the main library for Paulding County until 1979, we provided the maintenance to the City Cemetery starting in 1921 and did so through to 1980, our club was instrumental in fundraising for polio and diphtheria inoculations to the rural communities, we had a bookmobile that went into the small towns and communities of Paulding County and we purchased books for our schools.
For many years, the DWC has been unable to meet at the Clubhouse due to its deterioration. We meet at venues and churches around Dallas and Paulding County. We continued fundraising for local charities, we supplied food to the food banks, collected food and blankets for the animal shelter, gave coats to the churches, provided volunteers to the library, and continued to support the needs of our schools and senior facilities through our community service partnership with Partners in Education, CAYA and Hope for Christmas.
While we have quietly supported our community for over 104 years, we are now asking for sponsorship and support to help with the costs of the build and the Legacy Park that will be built between our clubhouse and the Masonic Lodge... We are asking for sponsors for flooring, landscaping, carpentry, furniture, paint, a masonry contractor and a landscape architect.
If you would like to support the Dallas Woman's Club or want to purchase a memorial brick to honor your family or business that will be put in Legacy Park, please reach out to our website at https://dallasgawomansclub.orgwomans1
