Volunteer600BeverlyFoltzPaulding County, GA — McKenna Farms Therapy Services (MFTS), a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing innovative therapeutic services to children with unique and special needs, has named Beverly Foltz as their 2024 Volunteer of the Year. With over 700 therapy sessions delivered weekly by a dedicated team of more than thirty therapists, McKenna Farms depends on more than 150 volunteers to operate. Volunteers are at the Farm 365 days a year to care for our herd of 14 horses; this includes but is not limited to feeding, mucking stalls, and turning them out to pasture. In addition, there are weekly volunteers who assist with therapeutic riding and hippotherapy sessions, as well as help with camps, fall festivals, and other special events.
“We could not operate our 30-acre horse farm or provide the extraordinary number of therapy sessions without the dedication of our volunteers," said Monique Sparks, Volunteer Director at MFTS. “Our volunteers are truly amazing people. The time these people commit to us saves McKenna Farms Significant dollars in operating expenses every single year, which frees up those funds to be reallocated where they are most needed.”
While MFTS appreciates and recognizes the commitment and dedication of all of their volunteers, each year one special individual is recognized as the Volunteer of the Year. At the volunteer appreciation dinner in December, Mrs. Sparks announced that the 2024 Volunteer of the Year was Beverly Foltz. Beverly has volunteered with McKenna Farms for more than five years. She cleans stalls, grooms, and leads horses for sessions. “I volunteer because it makes me feel good to be able to help care for the horses,” said Ms. Foltz. “I enjoy watching the changes take place in the horses from when they arrived and to see the faces of the children when they come to the barn and see the horse they are riding that day. McKenna Farms is my therapy!”
“Beverly is small, but mighty,” said Ms. Sparks. “She shows up every week ready to pitch in where needed and make a difference. She cheers on the horses, the children, other volunteers, and our whole staff. She makes our special place even brighter.”
