The General William J. Hardee Camp # 1397 Sons of Confederate Veterans of Dallas, Georgia met at the Paulding County Confederate Monument on Saturday, April 28, 2018, on a beautiful spring morning to hold a Confederate Memorial Day Observance Service. The service was called to order by Camp Commander Wayne Willingham and all were welcomed to the service, Brother John Emery was called upon to give the invocation.
The Junior Spartans Lay Claim To Feeder Team Championship. Spartans win the 10-5 victory over the Patriots. Congratulations to both squads on a great season.
The Paulding County Lady Patriots soccer team closed out their season on the pitch last week with a 3-1 loss to Sandy Creek in a non-region affair. The defending region 5 5-A champions lost 8 Seniors from last years squad and this season was a rebuilding process as the Patriots were 3-5 in region play.
The South Paulding Spartans baseball team garnered the #2 seed in region 5(6A) and will host Harrison on Thursday in a doubleheader and play Friday if necessary. The Spartans finished the regular season 14-2 in region play.

Paulding’s Elections and Registration staff have been preparing for the May Primary Election. Voting machines are being tested prior to their deployment in service of next month’s Primary Election. According to Deidre Holden, supervisor, Paulding County Elections, and Registration, there are about 464 voter machines at the county’s disposal. Most are deployed, but about 30 or 40 are held in reserve as back-ups, she said.
The North Paulding Lady Wolfpack Soccer Team enters into their 8th consecutive State Playoff appearance in 2018. North will take on the GA State Powerhouse Walton Raiders in the first round of the Playoffs.
Students in Ms. Holbrook’s 2nd-grade class celebrated military children and families in our schools on Thursday, April 26th. Several children in the class have parents who have served, and Ms. Holbrook’s son, Airman Mason W.Goodroe currently serves in the USAF.
American Legion Riders of Post 111 organized a benefit ride for Operation Not Forgotten. The ride started out at Hooters in Hiram and ended at Post 111 of Scoggins Road. Benefit riders were greeted with BBQ, provided by the Happy Hog in Hiram, a raffle, silent auction, and a live band.
