The Paulding County Rotary welcomed Robby Bruce and Bobby Cox from the City of Dallas Parks and Recreation Dept. Robby Bruce has coordinated with many club members about organizing events in and around Dallas, including the Annual Invitational Christmas Parade. Mr. Bruce thank the club for the opportunity to speak about the new and exciting things taking place in the City of Dallas.
Detectives with the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office Juvenile Investigations Division arrested Richard Wayne Biester on one count of Sexual Exploitation of Children (Possession of Child Pornography). Detectives were following up on a CyberTip which was received from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) via the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).
Saturday, December 7, 2019, this past weekend marked the 27th Annual Invitational Dallas Christmas Parade. Presented by the Paulding County Rotary Club in cooperation with the City of Dallas, Dallas Police Dept. and the Paulding Sheriff’s Dept. This year our parade was blessed with a clear day, as opposed last year's rain. We estimated approximately 20,000 to 23,000 residents attended the parade this year, and we thank each of you for making this such a terrific event.
Paulding E-911 received a welfare check call from Morris Ezekiel Hix (W/M, 72 YOA). Hix advised that he and his longtime girlfriend, Janet Darlene Osmer (W/F, 52 YOA), had been arguing and that during the argument he may have accidentally run over her in the driveway of 283 Perkins Road in Dallas.
Students and staff from the Kennesaw State University and the Georgia Highlands College Paulding Site provided a special Book Drive for Villa Rica students. The groups went to Villa Rica Elementary School with hundreds of free books in order to give students access to a variety of reading material to build their reading skills.
Seven GreyStone Power employees were honored by Georgia EMC with a statewide Lifesaving Awards at their Annual Meeting in Savannah on Nov. 11. The seven GreyStone Power linemen are among 14 employees from five EMCs in Georgia to be recognized with a Lifesaving Award, which recognizes EMC employees whose quick thinking and actions are instrumental in safeguarding others from dangerous or potentially deadly situations.
American Legion Post 111 and members of the Paulding County Veterans Memorial Committee held the very first Veterans Day Service at Veterans Memorial Park on Monday, November 11th at 11:00 AM. This service was significant as it was the first Veteran’s Day service held since the Veterans Monument was moved to the park in May of this year. This 2019 service was the 26th annual service held in the County in honor of all Veterans, living and deceased.
This year’s Thanksgiving holiday will be better for nearly 100 families in need at Chattahoochee Tech thanks to food donations collected for the college’s “Everything but the Turkey” food drive. Volunteers at the college assembled these donations into food baskets at the Marietta Campus on Tuesday, Nov. 19, for distribution prior to the Thanksgiving holiday.
More than 75 incredibly talented students from 11-area high schools are participating in the Northwest Georgia Workforce Development Alliance Skills Challenge in Cedartown on Tuesday, Nov. 19 from 8:30 am - 2:30 pm. The competition is part of the workforce development initiative led by The Associated General Contractors of Georgia (AGC Georgia) and some of its member companies including Brasfield & Gorrie and Duffey Southeast, Inc.; and will include challenges ranging from blueprint reading, carpentry, electrical, plumbing and more.
