Monday, March 18, we resumed our legislative business on Capitol Hill for the tenth week of this year’s session. As we head into our last legislative days, we have been busy, diligently working to review and debate pending legislation. The last day, Sine Die, Latin for “without a further meeting,” is scheduled for Tuesday, April 2. Last week we passed several Senate bills out of the House chamber which are now on their way to Governor Kemp for further review.
The Lady Raiders went on the road and defeated Kell 2-1 in a key 7-5A Region game on Tuesday that secured East's first playoff appearance in recent memory. This was a special day for EP's seniors who have steadily rebuilt the program over the last four years, growing East's Win total each year. The hard-fought victory over Kell was EP's fifth consecutive win, four on the road.
East Paulding Girls Soccer team notched it's third consecutive shutout and defeated Woodland 3-0 on Friday. Skilled, speedy, and tough, freshman Ella Mitchell has been a difference maker for East this year. She joins All-Region teammate, Morgan Gramling and Catherine Basch on the back-line defending the goal for the Raiders, who have only given up 14 goals in 12 games this season.
Paulding County will construct a Drug Task Force Facility for joint use of the Paulding and Haralson County Task Force Control Board. Paulding County Board of Commissioners voted 5-0 during their voting session last week to approve the construction and use agreement, with both counties contributing up to $250,000. According to the agreement Paulding County will own and maintain the facility after it’s built.
The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) was investigating a hit and run incident in eastern Paulding County that occurred March 18 on Ga. Hwy. 120 near Fox Lane and the Cobb County line.

A resurgent East Paulding Girls soccer team played their best game of the season and handily defeated their cross-town rival Paulding County in an important Region game on Friday night at The Boneyard. In their first eight games, Paulding had allowed a paltry 6 goals. On Friday, East almost doubled that by netting five. Kim Black started the scoring for East and had two goals, while senior leader Lauren Bergevine put three in the back of the net, including two on Penalty Kicks.
