Paulding Gymnastics Silver Team placed first at the 2019 Paws for a Cause Invitational! Over 1500 gymnasts from multiple states across the country competed at this year’s gymnastics event. Congratulations to Paulding Gymnastics for the huge victory and we look forward to the continued successes.
EPHS DECA heads to Orlando, FL in April for DECA’s International Career Development Competition.
International Women’s Day will be observed on March 8. Around the world, special events will celebrate the cultural, social, political and economic achievements of women. However, this last area – economic progress – is one that still causes concern, and rightfully so, because women still face gender-related challenges.
Georgia Highlands College was listed by Rice University-based publisher OpenStax as one of the top 10 schools that have served the most students with the adoption of free college textbooks in the 2017-18 school year. GHC was one of only two colleges in Georgia listed. The University of Georgia also made the list. To date, GHC has saved students over $6 million by eliminating textbook costs and providing free digital options.
Last week, we successfully completed legislative day 16 of 40. As we near the halfway mark of this year’s session, we still have much to do to ensure sound policy passes for the betterment of our great state. This week we passed several measures dealing with rural initiatives, healthcare, public safety, as well as, a bill aimed at assisting our active duty military service members.
Paulding County Cloverleaf 4-H’ers traveled to Georgia Highlands College in Rome to attend a public speaking competition. At the event, there were 12 counties represented and a total of 579 students in attendance.
Brown and Caldwell’s Kelly Comstock told Paulding commissioners that 22 of the 23 pipeline paths at road and stream crossings had thus far been completed, and 46,000 [linear feet] of the total 56,800 has been completed. Work is also beginning on the Phase Two section of pipeline.
Taylor founded the Alternative Baseball organization in 2016 for teens and young adults ages 15 years and up with autism. As a developmental baseball organization, this would give the opportunity to those unable to enjoy this port first-hand. Mr. Duncan explained that the mission is to provide an encouraging experience to promote personal growth and development for teens and adults with autism and other special needs. The program is a true baseball experience, using professional league rules.
A maturing East Paulding Girls soccer team dropped a tough 2-1 decision to a strong Marietta team on Friday. East put the pressure on during the second half and freshman Lauren Gramling found the net in her second straight game to tie the score. Marietta went on to score the game-winner later in the half and East was not able to overcome a well-coached and skilled Marietta team.
