Small Town Bank, is coming to Paulding County. Genevieve Cole has joined the team of Small Town Bank as their Paulding County President. Cole states, “I’m honored to have served my county for 44 years as a community banker and that I will continue banking as the residents have come to know and appreciate where they have a name, not a number.”

Hiram’s mayor and city council named their new police chief. Jamison Sailors takes over as Chief this week. Sailors will be sworn-in on Tuesday, July 10th, during the city council’s regular session. After the April resignation of former Police Chief Todd Van Zande, Hiram’s staff and council began their search for his replacement. Sailors, recently approved by the council, becomes Hiram’s third police chief in the last five years.

The Paulding County Bar Association was honored with the Best Website Award for voluntary bar associations with fewer than 50 members, presented June 8 during the Annual Meeting of the State Bar of Georgia.

Laddie Carter has been honored by the Carroll County and Carrollton Evening Sertoma (Service To Mankind) Clubs with the Service To Mankind Award for 2017. The award recognizes local philanthropists for their works in the community and at large.

A 26-year-old young woman, Ashley, and her husband were expecting their first baby when she was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. July 2018 will mark her 10-year remission anniversary, as she once again defies medical odds.

S.U. Braly Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce the 2018 service scholarship recipient. The recipient is Oluronke Akinrolabu of Dallas. Oluronke is receiving $2500 to pursue a nursing degree to become a Registered Nurse. She is currently employed at WellStar Paulding Nursing and Rehab Center since 2014, working 12-hour shifts on weekends as a Certified Nursing Assistant and is now in her senior year at Chamberlain University in Atlanta.

Martin E. Valbuena of Martin Enrique Valbuena P.C. in Dallas was re-elected to serve on the Board of Governors of the 50,000-member State Bar of Georgia and was installed June 9 during the organization’s Annual Meeting.

U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Malorie J. Pivato graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. Pivato is the daughter of Jill Pivato of Acworth.
