The Paulding Board of Realtors presented a check of $1,000 to the Paulding Boys & Girls Club at their member luncheon held last week, on August 22, 2018. The funds were raised through PBR's annual golf tournament, which was held in April as a fundraiser.
The Paulding County Patriots remained winless after 2 games in the 2018 season as they dropped their home opener to Kennesaw Mountain by a score of 48-14. The Patriots struggled to get anything consistently going on offense and could not stop the Mustangs running game and air assault.
Martin Momtahan of West Metro Driving School presented Shepherd’s Rest Ministries a check for $1250 in support of their continued work as Paulding County’s family violence crisis center. Located in Paulding County, Shepherd’s Rest is a critical resource to protect women and children in the community, providing housing, food, therapy, counseling and legal advocacy.
Mikey Curtis of the Paulding County Shrine Club visited the Paulding Rotary club. Mr. Curtis explain some of the histories of the Shrine Club for the Rotarians and updated them with information on their upcoming charity golf tournament.
Over the summer break, six former and current North Paulding students participated in the annual, "Georgia Trout Camp" event. Andrew Thompson and Aidan McGowen attended as campers. All former Trout Camp Graduates served as young mentors and were assigned various tasks to help the campers learn the art of fly fishing and cold-water conservation.
There are only a few days left in August for local teacher, Jodie Henson at Abney Elementary School, to reach her goal of raising $15,000 to implement a groundbreaking way of teaching in the Paulding County School District! But she and her students still need your help!
Newly elected officers for the 2018-2019 Centennial year term were recently installed at American Legion Post 111 in Dallas. 2019 marks the 100th Anniversary of the American Legion. The Post would like to publicly thank all past officers and members of Post 111 for their loyal and dedicated service. Current members are encouraged to renew their dedication to the Post and become involved in our many activities.
Saturday, August 18th, 2018 kicked off the 2018 Cross Country season for East Paulding, as they opened up at the Hoya 2 Mile Invitational. The Raiders ran with a depleted squad as the varsity runners had the weekend off in preparation for the upcoming weeks. Almost equaling the number of runners last year at this race, East Paulding was out to show their depth and size of their team for this season.
Maya Johnson, a Paulding County resident, and 13-year-old Sammy McClure Middle School student, recently attended Space Academy at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, home of Space Camp®, Space Camp® Robotics™, Aviation Challenge® and NASA Marshall Space Flight Center’s Official Visitor Center.
