Three Paulding County High Schools Participate in Trout Unlimited’s “Trout In the Classroom” Program
On Saturday, December 17th , students, teachers, and parents from North Paulding High School, Paulding County High School, and East Paulding High school released fingerling trout they had raised from eggs into a local stream. The Cohutta Chapter of Trout Unlimited provided the equipment, eggs, and technical support for the three schools. Teachers and students were able to observe the eggs hatch and the fish develop and grow into fingerlings. Water quality and temperature was tested and adjusted on a daily bases. All three schools and teachers, Nathan Chapman from East, Tricia Petersen from Paulding, and Rodney Tumlin from North, plan to repeat this unique learning opportunity again next year. DNR Fisheries Biologist, John Damer and Cohutta TU Education Director, John Dyke were also on hand for the release.
