Why I Relay
Before the 2013 Kick-Off for Relay I was not aware of Relay For Life. I knew about the American Cancer Society but not Relay. That year I volunteered to fill in for the captain of our church team because he had moved to another church. The information I learned about Relay and the ACS programs, along with the fact that my dad had died of prostate cancer in 1992 and my sister was currently going through chemo for breast cancer, led me to getting more involved.
I relay for my dad, my sister, friends and all who have or are battling cancer and to educate the public that Relay is not just about fund raising. It’s about changing lives forever. It’s about hope for a happier future. It’s about finding a cure. And it’s about the biggest celebration in honor and memory of all those who have had to deal with cancer.
You are invited to join me and the other thousands around the world in creating more birthdays.
