Paulding County Farm Bureau host Ag Legislative Forum
April 14, 2017 PCFB hosted the 2 nd Annual Ag Legislative Forum where city, county, state and national legislative officials and students from all 5 of the Paulding County high schools gathered to go over Farm policy. Our panelist included Georgia Ag Commissioner Gary Black, Rep Paulette Rakestraw, Rep Howard Maxwell, Rep Micah Gravely, Senator Bill Heath, Ryan Pelfrey of Senator Johnny Isakson’s Office, Alex Bradford of the GFB Legislative Department and Beatrice Torralba of Senator David Perdue’s office. Drew Ferguson from Congressman Tom Graves’s office and Blake Raulerson from the GFB Public Policy Department were also in attendance but did not sit on the panel.
The Paulding County Board of Directors was also in attendance as well as the PCFB Women’s Committee.
It is PCFB’s mission to educate our community and all in it to the importance of Agriculture and arming them with the knowledge of where their food and fiber comes from. We have to go down many roads to find ways to get into every school to share this knowledge. The Student Government Association clubs of Paulding County Schools are interested in every fascist of legislature. The Farm bill affects all of us from production to sales. The students are given Ag topics to research and develop questions from. The panelists are given topics to research to hone up on Ag Legislature prior to the event. It’s a learning experience all the way around. With over 100 in attendance, it was a Good Friday!
