152nd Anniversary of the Battle of Pickett’s Mill
Join us in helping commemorate the 152nd anniversary of the Battle of Pickett’s Mill. For this special event, we will have artillery and weapons demonstrations, living history demonstrations, military and civilian, tours of this pristine battlefield, and cabin. Prominent speakers fluent on the Atlanta Campaign, and Pickett’s Mill itself. In addition, the unveiling of a rare piece of ordnance on display in our museum, call park for details.
Friday, June 3, 2:00pm-3:00pm: Historian and author Michael Shaffer will discuss the ‘Atlanta Campaign’ and Saturday, June 4, 10:00am-11:00am , Michael will discuss ‘The Civil War in Georgia,’ and lead tours in the afternoon.
Saturday, June 4, 11:00am-12:00pm: Historian and author, Atlanta native Dr. Stephen Davis will be lecturing on ‘Taking another Look at John Bell Hood: What we’ve learned since the Centennial.’
Saturday, June 4, 1:00pm-2:00pm: Historian and author of The Battle of Pickett’s Mill: Along the Dead-Line, Brad Butkovich will discuss his book and lead tours following the lecture.
Sunday, June 5, 11:00am-12:00pm: Historian and author, Gould B. Hagler will show photos of Confederate monuments, discuss their purposes and point out their physical characteristics.
