Chattahoochee Board Welcomes New Members, Honors Retirees
Chattahoochee Technical College welcomed new members and honored retiring members of its local Board of Directors during the board’s year-end meeting, held Tuesday, June 13, at Gabriel’s at the Old Mill in Acworth.
“Our long-serving board members have been a tremendous asset to the college and I hate to see them go,” CTC President Dr. Ron Newcomb said. “However, with a new team of board members comes new opportunities, and I know these individuals will work to lead the college in a positive direction.”
New board members include Jim Hawk and Shenelle Gordon, business leaders from Bartow County. In addition, Jim Lawson of Cobb County was sworn in as a board member.
Hawk is a tire industry veteran with more than 40 years of experience, currently serving as both the chairman of Toyo Tire Holdings of Americas Inc. (TTHA) and Toyo Tire North America Manufacturing Inc. (TNA); and is president of Toyo Tire North America OE Sales LLC. Subsidiaries under TTHA include Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp. (TTC), Toyo Tire Canada Inc. (TCI), Nitto Tire USA Inc. (NTU), Nitto Tire Canada Inc. (NCI), Toyo Tire North America OE Sales LLC (TNOE) and TNA. Gordon is the human resources manager for Voestalpine Automotive Components Cartersville, Inc. Holding a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the City University of New York as well as certifications in human resources and human resources management, Gordon has helped to implement the company’s human resources strategy; oversee recruitment, employee relations, training and policy development; and to conduct internal investigations at Voestalpine.
Larson is the corporate training manager for Yancey Bros. Co., the nation’s oldest Caterpillar dealership. A graduate of the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising and Marketing, Larson has 15 years leading Yancey Bros. Co.’s Corporate Training Team, among other responsibilities with the company, and 20 years of professional experience in adult training and education, career development, leadership and technical training.
Retiring board members recognized for their nine years of service were Deane Bonner, President of the Cobb County Chapter NAACP; Stevan Crew, President of Crew & Associates; Mike Fields, Financial Consultant for Peachtree Planning Corporation; and Mitzi Smith Moore, President of Sundial Plumbing Services.
