Trout In The Classroom
There are four Paulding County Schools that are participating in Trout Unlimited's "Trout In the Classroom" program. Students raise trout from eggs to fingerlings in mini-trout hatcheries. During this time students learn about the life cycles of cold water fish and threats that they are under from pollution, climate change, and loss of habitat. The program concludes with all of the classes releasing their trout fingerlings into a trout stream. The four schools participating in the TIC program are East Paulding High, North Paulding High, Paulding County High, and Austin Middle.
The Cohutta Chapter of Trout Unlimited supplies all of the schools with the mini-hatcheries, eggs, equipment, chemicals, trout food, release permits, and technical support.
