Georgia Highlands College is introducing a “Next Step Fair,” which will bring together several colleges and universities in Georgia for a chance to meet one-on-one with college representatives. The event will take place in February and is open to students and the public.
Hiram Elementary has a new butterfly garden! The butterfly garden was gifted to Hiram as part of a grant from the Paulding County Farm Bureau. Ms. Watts, an early intervention teacher at Hiram won the grant from the Paulding County Farm Bureau last spring.
U.S. Air Force Airman Caleb C. Ivey graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. He is a 2017 graduate of East Paulding High School, Dallas, Ga.
For the first time in Paulding County athletics the county high schools held a county swim meet involving all 5 high schools. The meet was held at the Cobb Aquatics Center in Marietta and North Paulding High School was the host of the inaugural event.

South Paulding HS 9th Annual Hoops for Hope games in support of those battling, or have lost their fight with cancer. Coach Nye-Hinkson started honoring and remembering those affected by this horrible disease when she lost her own grandmother and grandfather to cancer.
Alternative Baseball Organization, Inc. has announced plans to start a second Alternative Baseball club at New Georgia Ballfield in Dallas, Georgia for the 2018 season. The 2nd program will aim to serve those age 15 and over with autism/special needs in Paulding, Carroll, Haralson, Polk, Bartow, and Douglas Counties.
The Georgia Highlands College men’s and women’s basketball teams will be playing to raise cancer awareness with a benefit game on February 7th in Rome at the GHC gym. The women will start at 5:30 p.m. followed by the men at 7:30 p.m.
Braelyn, a fifth grader, at HES is already following his dream of acting and singing. Braelyn will make his movie debut in Faith Under Fire that airs on Lifetime network on January 27, 2018, at 8 pm.
Dallas Elementary hosted its school Spelling Bee. The contestants were fourth and fifth-grade winners from their classroom spelling contests. The winner of the 2017-2018 Dallas Elementary Spelling Bee is Riley Kuhlken and the runner-up is Classie Lamar.
Paulding County High School JROTC Patriot Battalion assists families in need during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Through numerous fundraising efforts, the Battalion builds 10 Thanksgiving Food Baskets for families of PCHS students needing assistance.
