The National Society Of High School Scholars (NSHSS) today announced student John Ceriani III from Hiram Ga. has been selected to become a member of the esteemed organization. The Society recognizes top scholars who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, scholarship and community commitment.

Chattahoochee Tech Foundation honored the recipients of 98 different scholarships at its annual scholarship reception held Friday, March 30, on the North Metro Campus in Acworth. Representing a wide variety of programs offered at Chattahoochee Technical College, the 98 students were awarded scholarships amounting to $103,000.

The Paulding County Patriots righted the ship in the region with a much-needed sweep of the Hiram Hornets last week in region 7 5A action. The victories were almost must win in the region as the Patriots were off to a rough start.

The Hiram Stinger Battalion Drill Team qualified to attend the State Drill Competition when placing in the events of Female Regulation Armed Platoon, Unarmed Platoon, Unarmed Squad, and Armed Squad at the Area Drill Meet held at Langston Hughes High School.

NPHS Fly Fishing and Cold Water Conservation Club assisted the Cohutta and Coosa River Chapters of Trout Unlimited with a workday on Raccoon Creek which is located on Paulding Forest WMA. Along with Georgia DNR personnel, Thirty-four volunteers worked on trails and gathered trash along the banks of this pristine body of water. This was the 5th time this annual event was held.

The Technical College System of Georgia has awarded the Paulding County School District $3.15 million to help construct a new College and Career Academy that will develop job skills in students to help meet the future needs of employers in Paulding County.

Georgia Highlands College has saved students over $6 million by eliminating textbook costs and providing free digital options. GHC’s faculty have been working since fall 2015 to expand Open Education Resources (OER) courses each semester.

Dallas Elementary has named Alicia Jones Teacher of the Year for 2017-2018! Mrs. Jones is a second-grade teacher and has been teaching at Dallas for five years. She exemplifies what it is to be a Dallas Bulldog with her passion and dedication to teaching.
