Wellstar Paulding Cancer Survivor Celebration

On Sunday, June 2, 2019, WellStar Paulding Hospital hosted its first ever Cancer Survivor Day celebration. It was said the event catered to 106 cancer survivors and their family members for a day in honor of their survival.
In the months leading up to the event Kellie Mitchell, the hospital’s nurse navigator and cancer survivor, recruited fellow staff across the hospital campus to come together and plan the day's event. They worked to enlist and partner with other community business partners in the area. Huey Leuey’s joined in the efforts by donating a taco and nacho bar for the survivors and family members to enjoy lunch. Stars and Strikes partnered with the hospital to provide a DJ with music and entertainment. Several area grocery store chains came in to donate bakery items for the cake walk. The event was a huge success and WellStar Paulding Hospital looks forward to hosting this event yearly to celebrate our community area, cancer survivors.
