South Paulding Spartans traveled to Alexander for the 3 rd game of the year. What had hoped to be another upset to follow last years upset, it just wasn’t meant to be. The cougars punished the Spartans with a final score of 69-7.
The Paulding County Patriots improved to 1-1 on the young season with a thrilling victory over the New Manchester Jaguars of Douglas County Friday night 24-21. Junior place kicker Ryan Martin kicked a 33 yard field goal as time expired to give the Patriots the victory.
The Wolfpack is the real deal this year. They are definitely worth the price of admission. Friday night was a bit one sided but those that were there saw touchdowns in every flavor.
The first race of the cross country season for East Paulding happened this past weekend in Jasper, GA. The Raiders brought a very inexperienced squad up to compete with teams across the state at the Pickens Preview. The first race of the day was the Varsity Boys, and last year’s 8 th place county finisher Trevor Robinson.
East Paulding held their 2 mile time trial in order to find the varsity line up for the 2016 cross country season. The team has 55 athletes this year, the biggest it has been in years, 13 boys and 16 girls are first year runners. This leads to a very young group of runners.
The North Paulding Lady Wolfpack High School Varsity team wins big for the 2nd years in a row at the 2016 At The Rock Tournament on Saturday August 20th 2016.
The East Paulding Raiders suffered their largest point loss, 45-14, to the Harrison Hoyas. The Raiders have not seen such a large loss since 2004 against Rome (47-6).
The Hiram Hornets began their season on the road with a hard fought victory over the Kennesaw Mountain Mustangs Friday night at Scott Jones Field. The hornets stingy defense and timely big play capabilities gave them a 19-15 win.
The Paulding County Patriots hosted the Pepperell Dragons in a pre-season scrimmage last Friday. The score of the game went to the Dragons 28-21, but the outcome was not a priority.
The South Paulding varsity softball team rallied late and used a strong bullpen performance to defeat Paulding County 10-5 in the opening game for both squads at South Paulding High School on August 9th.
The Paulding County Patriots volleyball season got off to a great start as the Patriots swept the visiting Pepperell Dragons in both J.V. and Varsity matches. The J.V. won their match taking two games to none.
Georgia Highlands College officially welcomed Dash O’Neill as the head coach for the Charger baseball team this week. O’Neill joins GHC from Chattahoochee Valley Community College.
The PC Pride, 10U travel team made it all the way to the finals and placed 2nd. The PC Pistols, 10U Recreation All Star team finished in fourth place.
The South Paulding High School Spartan Battalion Color Guard presented the colors to open the Rome Braves game on Monday July 4, Independence Day.
