East Paulding Raiders beat AJC ranked #7 Kell Longhorns last Friday in a narrow victory. Kell’s short 3 points field goal lead was eclipsed by East TD on their 1st possession and held a lead until the 4th quarter by as much as 13 points.

South Paulding Spartans hosted the Douglasville Tigers this past Friday. The Spartans took the field with a mission in mind, “Do not give up”. The Spartans held their own against the strong Douglasville Tigers the entire game. However, the Tigers were able to capitalize on a fumble from the Spartans and retained the lead for the win.

Paulding County Sheriff’s Office held an official retirement ceremony for K-9 Major where he was surrounded by friends, family, and co-workers. K-9 Major began his career as a dual purpose law enforcement canine with Lieutenant Billy Hurst in September of 2009. He officially retired on September 1, 2018, with nine years of service.

Hiram High School CTI (Career and Technical Instruction) student organization elected officers for the 2018-19 school year. The officers are Mario Leone, President; Daniel Hamilton, Vice President; and Tate Kirby, Secretary.

Some recent federal legislation phasing in is aimed at helping law enforcement, emergency services, and medical practitioners stem the tide of opioid addiction that has impacted communities in Georgia and nationwide. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more Americans die from opioid overdoses than from car accidents.

The Paulding Fine Arts Association held the reception and awards presentation for the 2018 Juried Art Show this past Sunday, September 16th. Our judge this year was Ms. Allison Frink, the Education Director at the Marietta/Cobb Art Museum. Ms. Frink had a difficult task in selecting the winners from the 78 submissions presented by 30 local artists.

The Paulding County Patriots took to the road and traveled to Cartersville to play the undefeated Woodland Wildcats last Friday night. The Patriots played well and almost collected their first win of the season and nearly spoiled the Wildcats homecoming plans.

Paulding Meadows has been a Paulding County tradition for 39 years now. This year, 2018, likely broke last year's record turnout. Paulding County residents turned out in record numbers for this year's Paulding Meadows Festival. There were approximately 56,000 participants at this past weekend's event.
