The House unanimously approved Rep. Tom Graves’ (R-GA-14) bipartisan legislation (H.J.Res. 92) recognizing the 100th anniversary of the Balfour Declaration. A statement issued by the British Government in 1917, during World War I, affirming the right of the Jewish people to a national home.
We celebrated Veteran’s Day at Abney Elementary Friday, November 10th. Grades K through 5 showed their appreciation through song and spirit at our 6th Annual event. Veterans were treated to refreshments afterwards of coffee and doughnuts by our incredible PTA. Abney Elementary is so very proud of our Veterans!
Rep. Tom Graves voted for and the House passed the Conference Report to Accompany H.R. 2810, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2018, annual legislation that authorizes funding for the Department of Defense. The conference report works out differences between previously passed House and Senate versions of the bill. After the Senate passes this bill, it will go to President Trump’s desk for his signature.
Rep. Tom Graves’ (R-GA-14) today voted for and the House passed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (H.R. 1), legislation to cut taxes for families and businesses and create more American jobs. After the vote, Rep. Graves issues the following statement,"One reason the American people elected President Trump and a Republican Congress is to cut taxes and help businesses create more American jobs. Our bill throws out the old system and creates a simpler, flatter and fairer tax code."
Morgan Hunton, a senior at East Paulding High School, was recently selected as one of the nations top 125 high school marching band seniors from thousands of applicants to participate in the 2018 U.S. Army All-American Bowl. She will receive an all-expense paid trip to San Antonio to march in the Alamodome during halftime of the All-American Bowl.
The Medal of Heroism is the highest ROTC award a cadet can receive. An act of Heroism must be performed to earn this award and also it must set the cadet apart from the others and involve acceptance of danger.
The competition was held at the Gerald Lawhorn Boy Scout Camp in Molena, Ga. Robert Daugherty Jr. won 1st place where the best kid from all teams compete against each for the best time to complete the whole obstacle course.
In an effort to help Chattahoochee Technical College students reach their academic and professional goals, Open Roads Complete RV Owner Drew Hutton has provided a $2,500 donation to the college’s 2018 Student Leadership Academy.
Kerry and Mary Tidmore, friends of Shepherd’s Rest Ministries, are making dreams come true for battered and abused women and their children. The couple presented Dr. Kathryn Melton, Executive Director of Shepherd’s Rest with their own personal vehicle, a 2001 Isuzu Trooper, which is in excellent condition.
