A Paulding Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting was held on Friday, November 3rd for Master Class Barbershop & Salon, Inc. Danielle Shakoor is the owner. She is a USMC Ret. Veteran and is a Master Barber and Cosmetologist who studied at the Oceanside College of Beauty in Oceanside, California.
A constant champion of technical education in Georgia, Susan Stephens of Cartersville was presented with the Technical College Foundation Association 2017 Volunteer of the Year Award on Nov. 7th at the leadership conference of the Technical College System of Georgia.

Marine Corps Private First Class Matthew Degner has graduated from basic military training at Parris Island, South Carolina. He is the son of Denise Degner of Hiram, Ga. Private First Class Degner is a 2017 graduate of Hiram High School.
Around 25 students took advantage of a college success workshop organized and led by Georgia Highlands College President Don Green. The four-week workshop took place at the beginning of the semester. Dean of Natural Science and Physical Education Greg Ford and Dean of Health Sciences Michelle Boyce also worked with the students.

A retirement reception was held in honor of Deputy Jerry Coalson at the Paulding County Courthouse. Deputy Coalson began his career in law enforcement with the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office in July of 2017.
Supporters of the WellStar Foundation raised funds for cutting-edge emergency resources in local communities serviced by WellStar Health System. The Foundation’s 5th annual Clay Shoot at Foxhall Resort & Sporting Club raised more than $100,000 in October. The dollars raised for the not-for-profit Health System will advance emergency and trauma services for patients who visit WellStar.
