Paulding County 4-H’er Juliette McKinley first learned about Molly the pony when she was only 9 years old. Now with the aid of the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine through their animal rescue and relief initiatives post-Hurricane Katrina, Molly is now a therapy pony and continues to bring a message of courage to people all over the country.
Roberts Elementary recently showed our support and gratitude to the members of the Armed Forces by hosting a Veterans Day parade and breakfast. Veterans and current service members were honored with a parade through the hallways and patriotic songs.
Lex Vick currently attends Georgia Highlands College. He takes classes on the Floyd Campus. He lives in Armuchee. There are currently around only 5,000 falconers in the U.S. Lex will graduate to master falconer in 2018. Lex is currently working on his associate in biology at Georgia Highlands College. He wants to continue on to Berry College to get a bachelor’s in animal science before attending veterinarian school at the University of Georgia.
Former football players from Paulding County help lead Kennesaw State Owls to their first ever Conference Championship and first playoff in Just the programs 3rd year of football.
The Hiram High School wrestling team will be hosting their first-ever Girls dual meet in the state of Georgia on November 30, 2017. The meet will start at 6pm, at Hiram High School’s Performing Arts Center.
The Paulding Retired Educators met at the Hardy Family lake house on November 14th. Speakers were Sgt. Ashley Henson and Sheriff Gary Gulledge of the Paulding County Sheriff's Department. The following topics were presented: the construction of the new jail and security concerns. Members were advised to beware of phone scams, to pay attention at all times to surroundings, to know where exits are, and to be aware of the benefits of home alarms and home security.
Paulding County is getting a community health and resource center next year to provide low-cost, high-quality medical care and support resources to those who need it. CareLink of Northwest Georgia is readying a building near downtown Dallas with the intent to open early next year.
The Paulding Board of Realtor's made a donation to the Paulding County Boys and Girls Club and also a food drive donation for Helping Hands of Paulding County.
Paulding County High School's 30th Annual Miss Patriot Pageant was held on November 16, 2017. Fifteen young ladies competed in the fun-filled event. MacKenzie Dryden was crowned Miss Patriot 2017.
