The Patriots had the unfortunate luck to draw the Buford Wolves. The final score of 54-23 was not indicative of the effort that the Patriots put forth.

American Legion Post 111 and members of the Paulding County Veterans Memorial Committee held a Veterans Day Service downtown Dallas on Saturday, November 11th at 11:00 AM. The 24th annual service was held in honor of all Veterans living and deceased.

The Veterans Day celebration at WC Abney Elementary is always a special day! I am a second-grade teacher there, and this year was even more special for me as my son, Airman First Class, Mason Goodroe.

The State Senate Study Committee on Cyber Security Education convened at Chattahoochee Technical College’s North Metro Campus in Acworth on Thursday, Nov. 9 to continue its assessment of cybersecurity education available for Georgia students.

Cobb EMC and Gas South brought 11 award-winning children’s book authors to local schools. Throughout the week, authors challenged more than 24,000 students to build life-long reading and writing habits. Guest authors included several Georgia writers, as well as NASA author, speaker and space historian Andrew Chaiken and New York Times bestselling author Brian Lies.

Keep Paulding Beautiful mission is to work with Paulding citizens to promote a clean and healthy environment in which to live, work, and play. With that goal in mind a group of likeminded Paulding County residents came together on Saturday, November 4th to help in the first of KPB’s 2017 library beautification projects.

On Friday, November 10th a retirement reception was held in honor of Lieutenant Mike Christopher of the Sheriff’s Office. Lieutenant Christopher began his career in law enforcement with the Georgia Department of Revenue where he worked from 1975 to 1985. In 1985 he went to work for the Marietta Police Department where he worked until he came to the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office.

Voters went to the polls for municipal elections last week in one Dallas city council race and one ballot question in Hiram. Deidre Holden, supervisor, Elections & Registration, contacted by phone earlier this week, said that turnout was light, with 4.2 percent of registered voters participating.
