The State Senate Study Committee on Cyber Security Education convened at Chattahoochee Technical College’s North Metro Campus in Acworth on Thursday, Nov. 9 to continue its assessment of cybersecurity education available for Georgia students.
We celebrated Veteran’s Day at Abney Elementary Friday, November 10th. Grades K through 5 showed their appreciation through song and spirit at our 6th Annual event. Veterans were treated to refreshments afterwards of coffee and doughnuts by our incredible PTA. Abney Elementary is so very proud of our Veterans!
A constant champion of technical education in Georgia, Susan Stephens of Cartersville was presented with the Technical College Foundation Association 2017 Volunteer of the Year Award on Nov. 7th at the leadership conference of the Technical College System of Georgia.
Around 25 students took advantage of a college success workshop organized and led by Georgia Highlands College President Don Green. The four-week workshop took place at the beginning of the semester. Dean of Natural Science and Physical Education Greg Ford and Dean of Health Sciences Michelle Boyce also worked with the students.
Georgia Highlands College has launched a new robotics program for middle school students called Charger Robotics. Students from fifth grade through eighth grade were formed together into teams and will compete in the upcoming 100 Scholars First Lego League Regional competition on December 16 at Atlanta Metropolitan State College.
This last weekend saw five teams from Paulding County taking to the fields of friendly strife to compete at the state raider team meet, which was held down at Spalding High school, south of Atlanta.
The Braves had a fantastic first season, lighting up the scoreboard with 96 runs in 10 games. The coaching staff would like to thank all the players and parents for their dedication all season long.
Chattahoochee Technical College’s Marketing Team was recently awarded three Medallion Awards from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations. The Medallion Awards recognize outstanding achievement in communications at community and technical colleges in District 2.
Carolyn Rowe retires October 31st from teaching over 30 years. She has been an incredible member of the New Georgia family for most of that time! Staff, students and the community will miss her very much!
Hiram Elementary Hornets participated in our annual Hiram Hustle recently. The students helped raise money for our PTA by using some athletic skill, endurance, and lots of fun.
Hiram High School played host to 20 Schools from throughout the Atlanta Metro Area and Alabama on Saturday 21 October for their annual JROTC Stinger Battalion Open Raider Challenge. Forty teams competed in five events designed to test cadet’s strength, agility, speed, stamina, endurance, and teamwork.
Local soccer team continues to help raise awareness by playing in their 2nd Annual PINK OUT soccer game Saturday, October 21, 2017, at Big Shanty Fields, Kennesaw, GA. SSA 08G Chelsea Black U10 Academy played for more than just the game. The girls are Coached by Head Coach Reggie Ayala an Alexander High School graduate 2011 and soccer standout.
