Alan Ewing Jr. is a Dallas Georgia native and 2017 East Paulding High School honor graduate and is serving his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the Carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71).

Paulding County Airport Authority board members joined mediation talks last week focused on legal actions surrounding Paulding’s airport. Airport Director Terry Tibbitts and Chairman Boyd Austin represented the airport authority.

The Hiram Stinger Battalion Drill Team qualified to attend the State Drill Competition when placing in the events of Female Regulation Armed Platoon, Unarmed Platoon, Unarmed Squad, and Armed Squad at the Area Drill Meet held at Langston Hughes High School.

76 people were arrested and 13 children were rescued or identified as victims during a mutually coordinated operation between eight (8) southeastern states. The joint, proactive operation, Operation Southern Impact II, was coordinated by nine (9) Internet Crimes Against Children Task Forces in those eight states and focused on persons who possess and distribute child pornography.

NPHS Fly Fishing and Cold Water Conservation Club assisted the Cohutta and Coosa River Chapters of Trout Unlimited with a workday on Raccoon Creek which is located on Paulding Forest WMA. Along with Georgia DNR personnel, Thirty-four volunteers worked on trails and gathered trash along the banks of this pristine body of water. This was the 5th time this annual event was held.

The Technical College System of Georgia has awarded the Paulding County School District $3.15 million to help construct a new College and Career Academy that will develop job skills in students to help meet the future needs of employers in Paulding County.

Commissioner Pownall truly loves Paulding County and has a very special relationship with Post 2.  Since 2011, he has spearheaded projects to enhance the safety and quality of life for those living in his post.  He also recognizes the necessity to address the fundamental needs of Paulding County first, so that the county can grow sensibly.  He, along with the help of fellow commissioners, has brought many important and essential county projects to fruition.

My House colleagues and I completed Legislative Day 35 and our tenth week of the 2018 legislative session, and we now only have five working days remaining until Legislative Day 40, or sine die. Legislative Day 40 is the last day the House will take up business for the year, and since we only have a few days left to wrap up our legislative work, this week was extreme!
