Chattahoochee Technical College has welcomed students back to school with 9,451 students enrolled for the fall semester. To facilitate a safe transition into the fall semester during the coronavirus pandemic, the college added additional sections and seats in online courses to help accommodate students who did not want to attend classes in person.
To give a brief history of the event, 8 years or more ago the club put together the idea of having a football season kick-off, to hear from our coaches. A chance for them to tell us what is going on in their programs and mention some of their players. It has been a great program over the years and we were not willing to give it up this year.
Chattahoochee Technical College has honored its board of directors retiring member Rev. Carl A. Moore Sr. with the college’s Golden Eagle award for his many years of outstanding service. Chattahoochee Tech Board of Director's actions this week also included the board chair passing of the gavel from Steve Holcomb, past president and CEO of United Community Bank, to Jim Larson, director of talent for Yancey Bros., Co. Serving as the new vice-chair is Debbie Underkoffler, president, and CEO of North Georgia Staffing.
As the largest class ever, 267 top students from across the country have won Stamps Scholarships, joining an accomplished network of highly driven individuals who are committed to leaving an impact on their local and larger communities.
Georgia Farm Bureau (GFB) members who grow Bermudagrass hay are encouraged to enter the 2020 GFB Quality Hay Contest. Hay entered in the contest will be tested at a University of Georgia lab using the Relative Forage Quality (RFQ) Test, which provides an analysis of the nutritional value of the hay. Winners will be determined by the RFQ analysis. The deadline to enter is Oct. 31.
Ford Thigpen welcomed the guests to the club meeting and expressed his pride in continuing this event for the ninth year, and gave special thanks to Jason Freeman, Athletic Director for Paulding Schools. Joining us, Coach Van Spence from Paulding High, Coach Billy Shackleford from East Paulding, and joining us for the first time Coach Jason Nash from South Paulding.
Upon entering the residence, Deputies made contact with Harris who was wounded. Once they made contact, Deputies and EMS attempted to secure and treat Harris. Harris picked up a sword and attempted to attack the Deputies and EMS. Harris was tased by Deputy Carl Brown but continued to advance with the sword. Deputy Alan Perry shot Harris, and he was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
A 2019 Polaris Ranger was taken from 2053 Pleasant Grove Road Temple, GA which is in western Paulding County. The victim, along with his friends were able to track down the Polaris Ranger several hours later in Southern Trace subdivision where they were able to hold the suspects, Joshua Clay Arp (W/M, 30 YOA) and Nina Larie Jenkins (W-F, 35 YOA) until law enforcement arrived.
Michael Hughes, executive director of Paulding County’s Economic Development Organization (EDO) addressed Paulding business leaders last week at the August Chamber of Commerce Luncheon, held at the New Season Church in Hiram.
