Dr. Ron Newcomb, president Chattahoochee Technical College (CTC) addressed Paulding business leaders last week at the Chamber of Commerce Luncheon, held at the New Season Church in Hiram, which was followed by the presentation of this year’s Industry Appreciation Awards.
Michelin Raceway’s 12-turn track will be a challenge for MotoAmerica’s top competitors as they battle it out at speeds of up to 190 mph. Alongside five competitive classes of racing, attendees will enjoy stunt shows and bike displays, plus the chance to get autographs and see participating riders, teams, and motorcycles at the open paddock. To ensure the safety of riders and spectators, government-sanctioned safety protocols and social distancing measures will be enforced.
The Georgia Department of Public Health Northwest Health District is changing testing hours at its ten Northwest Georgia drive-up COVID-19 testing locations. Beginning Monday, July 13, free testing will be available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Chattooga, Catoosa, Dade, Gordon, Haralson, Paulding, Polk, and Walker county health departments.

A Dean’s Award is presented every year in each of the following five main project areas: Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (including STEM); Civic Engagement and Citizenship; Family and Consumer Sciences; William “Bill” Edwards Award for Communications and the Arts; and James Harris Award for Leadership. First place winners receive Master 4-H’er status, a $500 scholarship, and recognition at the Georgia 4-H Day at the Capitol. But do you know what the law says about discharging fireworks? What you may not know is that the Georgia General Assembly changed the times on when you can legally ignite fireworks last year. The new law went into effect on July 1, 2018.
The Paulding Rotary Club in an outreach to local Veterans secured two AED Defibrillators. These life-saving devices were donated to American Legion Post 70 and Post 111. Local Veterans of all ages gather regularly at these Legion Halls.
