Cops for Kids takes underprivileged children who live in Paulding County and pairs them with a Sheriff's Deputy to go shopping at Christmas. 2019's event took place at the Wal-Mart on Marietta Highway and marked the 21st year for the event. Over the years this has become one of the most successful and positive community outreach programs in the county.
Unfortunately, the pandemic also affected the Paulding Rotary club meetings and regular interactions with the community. As restrictions subside the club has been quick to schedule meetings and address our annual local contribution obligations. On Friday, June 12, 2020, Renita White retired from the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office. Renita began her career with the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office as a Terminal Operator in the GCIC Division on June 1, 2001. While in GCIC, Renita was tasked with entering and confirming arrest warrants and stolen items. She also maintained information regarding Paulding County's protective orders.
Paulding County Fire & Rescue was dispatched to a residential structure fire located at 195 Hillside Drive. Fire Department personnel immediately commenced fire suppression and search & rescue operations. Engine 3 was able to quickly locate and rescue the trapped 15-year-old using a bedroom window where Paulding County Sheriff Deputies rendered first aid.
Detectives from the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division secured warrants and arrested Lacy Jolee Boles (W/F, 37 YOA) without incident.
The Chattahoochee Tech Foundation welcomes community business leaders Chris Mosley and Jeff Butterworth as new members of the Board of Trustees. “We are very pleased to welcome these well-respected leaders to the Chattahoochee Tech Foundation Board of Trustees, They will bring a top level of expertise to our mission of supporting the college, its students, and its programs."
Chattahoochee Tech Surgical Technology Program Director Lorraine Wilderman nominated Cain for the college’s Alumni of the Year award. “Because of his work at Chattahoochee Tech and in the surgical technology field beyond, it was my pleasure to nominate Dustin Cain for this award,” said Wilderman. “I can think of no better graduate for this honor.”
On Tuesday, June 2, 2020, Major Ava Davis retired from the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office. During her 39-year law enforcement career she served under four different Sheriffs. Throughout her career she served in multiple capacities to include Dispatcher, Patrol Deputy, and as a Detective in the Burglary Unit and Juvenile Investigations Division. Major Davis was also the first female to attain the rank of Major at the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office.
Madison Clemente was recently awarded the Paulding County Master Gardener Extension Volunteers 2020 Scholarship. Madison will attend the University of North Georgia in the fall working towards a degree in Agricultural Communication.
