The Paulding County Rotary Club rallied this past week for their Annual Senior Cookout at the Wellstar Paulding Nursing Center in Dallas. Paulding Rotary Club members began to arrive around 11AM to start preparing the meals for the center's senior residents and staff members.

During the Braves homestand against the Arizona Diamondbacks at SunTrust Park, local Dallas resident, Taylor Duncan, was commemorated on field as the Braves’ first “Community Hero” of 2019 for his work in establishing and expanding Alternative Baseball; a baseball program providing an opportunity for teens (ages 15+) and adults with autism and other special needs to learn physical and social skills for every day life through the sport of baseball.
Chattahoochee Technical College honored more than 400 students who petitioned to graduate from the state’s largest technical college in two commencement ceremonies held on Thursday, May 16, at the Clarence Brown Conference Center in Cartersville. Crossing the stage to receive associate degrees, diplomas and technical certificates of credit were 200 graduates representing more than 30 programs of study.

Abney Elementary 3rd through 5th graders attended Career Crew which is a monthly after-school club. East Paulding High School (EPHS) students visited Abney to share knowledge of their high school career pathways and related careers. Abney students also learned employability skills and participated in many fun group activities.
Paulding County workers last week moved the county's Veterans Memorial monument from downtown Dallas to a park facing the county courthouse on the campus of the Watson Government Complex. The new location is in Veterans Park adjacent to the county courthouse and county government office buildings, where all relocated in 2007.
Mark Caffery member of the Paulding Rotary welcomed guest speaker, Ricky Flores of the FAA, to speak on behalf of the Aviation Career Education Academy program coming to the Paulding County Airport. Mr. Flores spoke highly of the career opportunities available in the aviation industry. He was also very optimistic about the value of these jobs moving forward.
GreyStone Power recently received recognition in the 2019 Spotlight on Excellence national awards program, sponsored by the Council of Rural Electric Communicators (CREC) and the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA). The cooperative received the Spotlight program’s top honor, the Edgar F. Chesnutt Award for Best Total Communication Program, for the “Making Life Better” campaign.
