While most Georgia citizens take the opportunity to slow down during the Summer months, your state government is full swing! July 1 marked the beginning of our brand-new fiscal year. A brand-new fiscal year means we begin anew where government funding is concerned; an acknowledgment of how our budgeting needs and priorities frequently change.
Member Doug LaRoss introduced guest speaker Rita Norris current CareLink Board of Directors Chair. Ms. Norris, who brings years of experience with community service programs, has been involved with CareLink for three years and is held the chair for the past year and a half. CareLink serves as a community health, dental and wellness clinic providing low-cost and high-quality medical support care and resources to the residents of Paulding County. CareLink is a 501(c)(3) organization and is committed to addressing access to care barriers while promoting healthy lifestyles through education and prevention.
The Paulding Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the recent addition of Jody Martin as the Director of Communications and Events. Jody has been involved with the Chamber for many years serving as an Ambassador, Co-Chair of the Empowering Women Committee, a Leadership Paulding graduate and an active volunteer. We are excited about the many talents, skills, and ideas Jody brings to the Chamber.
WellStar Paulding Hospital’s Volunteer Auxiliary held their annual event on June 26th and recognized service hours from volunteers, awarded scholarships, and presented a donation of $115,000 to the WellStar Foundation at the Paulding Chamber offices in Dallas.
The Paulding Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting for Glovers Mobile Tutoring on Tuesday, July 23, 2019. Glovers Mobile Tutoring is a safe, fun, and friendly drop-in tutorial program that caters to all learners. Glovers Mobile Tutoring provides continued learning tutorial camps throughout the summer, daily tutorials, remediation and advancement for all K-12 subjects, and afterschool tutorials.
Paulding County Rotary Club President-elect Jackie Crum received the gavel today from now-past Rotary Club President Ford Thigpen. Jackie now in her third year of membership with the Paulding Rotary Club is looking forward to strengthening the Rotary Club's service and presence in the community.
The Paulding Judicial Circuit Drug Court Program celebrated another graduation on Friday, July 12, 2019. This marks the fifth graduation of the Program since its creation in January 2016. Seven participants graduated on Friday, making this the program’s largest graduation to date. The Program has inducted over eighty participants. Of those, a total of twenty-five have graduated.
It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the passing of one of our law enforcement canines, K-9 Verro. K-9 Verro was an eight-year-old Belgian Malinois who was handled by Corporal Brandon Kilgore. K-9 Verro and Corporal Kilgore had been partners for over seven years while working together in Paulding County. K-9 Verro was a dual purpose law enforcement canine and was an exceptional member of the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit.
The Chattahoochee Technical College Welding & Joining Technology program is not just for men. Chattahoochee Tech students Sarah Macedo, Katarina Highley-Sowers, and Ceason Eisele, who are enrolled in this program at the college’s Paulding Campus, demonstrate that this profession is for women too.
