The 8th Annual Pigskin Preview took place at the Dallas Civic Center in Downtown Dallas, organized by the Paulding County Rotary Club. This year guests were greeted by Paulding County High School drum majors and varsity football cheerleaders, along with their principal, Craig Wilcox. Guests also enjoyed a Hamburger and Hot dog lunch grilled and prepared by the Paulding Rotary Club members. A new record number of community and county representatives gathered to take part in this year’s event.
Seven and a Timmaaay of Hiram, Ga finished 1st in the 2019 APA 9-Ball World Championship, conducted by the American Poolplayers Association (APA) on Aug. 13-17 at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino. Seven and a Timmaaay are members of the local APA 9-Ball League that play out of Hiram Station and became eligible to compete in the World Pool Championships by participating in weekly league play and placing at the top of their division during the summer, fall or spring sessions.
An eleven-year-old female juvenile was walking her dog in the area of 330 School Road Dallas, GA 30132 which is a rural area of northern Paulding County within the Burnt Hickory community. According to the juvenile, while she was walking her dog a Hispanic male pulled up to her in an old white “work van” and told her to get inside the vehicle.
On August 12, 2019 Detectives and Agents secured arrest warrants on Damon Sherod Hamilton, (B/M, 31 YOA) of Lithonia, GA who is also a confirmed member of a criminal street gang within the State of Georgia. Once the warrants were secured, Deputy Marshals with the United States Marshals Service Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force (SERFT) arrested Hamilton in Forest Park, GA.
A domestic dispute where an intoxicated male subject had a gun threatening family members. When Deputies arrived on scene at 2562 Highway 101 North (GA SR 101) Dallas, Georgia 30132 they made contact with several family members who had already exited the residence. The complainant stated that the male was inside the residence and he was possibly armed with a gun.
Paulding County 4-H students competed at the State 4-H Congress in Atlanta from July 23-26. The State 4-H Congress is the statewide public speaking and interview competition for 4-H’ers across Georgia.
The local Quilt of Valor Foundation presented Ray Cochran with a beautiful quilt for his service to our nation. The Quilts of Valor Foundation was begun in 2003 to honor and comfort veterans.
The Chattahoochee Tech Foundation Board of Trustees welcomed new Board members Arne Irwin, Daniel Jape, Henry Molinet and Megan Richards Flores at the quarterly meeting of the Board held Thursday, Aug. 8, at the Yanmar Evo Center in Acworth.
The East Paulding Fastpitch Booster Board, Coaching Staff, and Athletic Department hosted owner of JCW Contracting, Joe Woods, Sunday afternoon to cut the ribbon on our new scoreboard. The East Paulding Fastpitch Booster Club raised part of the funds through an email campaign fundraiser (big THANK YOU to our players, their families and friends) and Joe matched us, making the new scoreboard a reality.
