Paulding County 4-H is proud to share that we have a history of contest interest. We participate in the Make Your Own Piggy Bank Contest with Georgia 4-H and Georgia Saves! Also, 2018 4-H Beekeeping Essay Contest, which is contest is a national competition offered by the Foundation for the Preservation of Honey Bees, Inc.

The American Library Association hosts a bi-annual event in Washington, DC, National Library Legislative Day (NLLD). This is a two-day educational event. May 7th and 8th, 2018 that brings hundreds of librarians, trustees, library supporters and patrons to Washington, D.C. This year, West Georgia Regional Director, Jessica Everingham has invited Paulding County Library Services Coordinator, Cherry Waddell to attend the event along with other Georgia Library Representatives.

A Paulding Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting was held on February 22nd for Bodyplex of Hiram. At Bodyplex it is all about getting results and helping members achieve their health and fitness goals.

Valentine's Day the residents of Well-star Paulding Nursing Home were treated to a Valentine Party sponsored by the Paulding Retired Educators Association. The Valentine Party has been an outreach of the Paulding Retired Educators for many years and it has always been a huge success.

Paulding County UGA Extension Master Gardener Volunteers recently recognized Bob Banks and Carolyn Burce as Paulding County Master Gardeners of the Year as well as the New Georgia Library as the Friend of Master Gardeners.

Dr. Kathryn Melton visited the Paulding County Rotary Club at the February meeting. Dr. Melton took the podium and thanked the Rotary Club members for their continued support of the Shepherd's Rest Ministries.

“The Full Circle Project,” a charitable arm of Waste Industries USA, Inc., recently donated $5,000.00 to the American Legion Post 111 in Dallas to assist with their “Raise the Roof” fund.

The Paulding Fine Arts Association is proud to announce the winners of the 2018, 31st Annual Student Art Show. Ford Thigpen introduced George Jones, the new Paulding County Department of Transportation Director and Scott Greene who is now the Director of Operations for the county.

Six Paulding County 4-H’ers joined over 400 4-H youth and leaders for 4-H Day at the Capitol. While in Atlanta, they met with their state Senators and Representatives and saw the House of Representatives during that day’s session. The eventful day included visits with Representative Howard Maxwell (Dist. 17), Senator Bill Heath (Dist. 31), Representative Paulette Rakestraw (Dist. 19).
